Trip to Canberra

We drove down to Canberra to visit Jeanne and her family. Her mum, dad and siblings were over for Christmas from India, so we got to see them again as well!! We met Diego (Jeanne and Rod's son) for the first time! He's adorble!
The drive down was not as pleasant as we hoped for. Alois didn't sleep the whole way there. (It was about a 3 and half hour drive). He played some of the way, and cried the rest of the way there!! The trip back was very simliar only there was more crying!!

We were glad to go though, as it was great catching up with our dear friends!!

Alois, at the begining of the trip...this didn't last long

Alois' First Christmas

Well on Christmas day Alois was up bright and early. Franz and I were more excited about opening the present than he was. He had no idea what all the fuss was about. All he wanted to play with was the camera cord. When he was done with that he was ready for a nap.

While he slept Franz and I cooked. Franz did a roast lamb on the bbq while I made some peas ala francoise, candied sweet potatoes in coconut cream, coconut rice and some roasted honey pumpkin. We were joining two other Papua New Guinean familes for a "bung kaikai"...there was heaps of food!! The adults were outnumbered by the children. With only 3 families present there were 6 adults and 13 children!!

KYB Christmas Party

Ok, so this is bit late...but I'm pretty, but better late than never. We had a KYB Christmas morning tea party. Alois enjoyed himself. Crawling everywhere, including under the table and under the christmas tree! Just a few photo's from the morning.

Trip to Penrith

Franz was speaking at a work conference about Safety in Electrical Engineering in Penrith on November 16th. The company hired a car for him so Alois and I tagged along. The drive was supposed to be about 4 hours but ended up being over 6 hours for us! We had to stop a couple of times to feed and change and settle Alois. He's at the age where sitting in a car seat isn't much fun at all!! He'd rather be crawling! He did well though!

We arrived there after his dinner time, so he was starving and tired, coz he woke up and couldn't go back to sleep about an hour from Penrith. We fed him, bathed him, sang to him and put him in the cot, and the screaming started! Alois was not happy, he wanted HIS cot, the one daddy made!! Franz went to dinner, and left me with screaming Alois. To keep him quite I tried to feed him again, but that didn't work. 2 hours later, his dad was home, calmed him down, but as soon as he put him in the cot the screaming started again. So...something I've never done before...Alois slept right next to me!! He cried throughout the night, but each time I just fed him while lying there. The next morning he had a 3 and a half hour nap in the cot!!! He was exhausted!!

The following two nights weren't as bad, but he was waking expecting a feed, like the first night. Something Franz had to deal with when we got back home. It took about 3 days back here for him to settle back down and sleep through the night again.

We didn't do much in Penrith, Franz was in the conference all day and I was too scared to drive around!! Living in a town with no traffic lights does that to a woman!! But it was nice to just get out of West Wyalong and have some time together, considering Franz had been working non stop a week and a half prior to our trip!

Alois' Dedication Weekend

Alois was dedicated on Sunday 14 Oct 07 in West Wyalong Community Church by pastor Cameron Webber. Franz's brother James and good friend Risto drove 12 hours straight, from Brisbane for the special occasion. It was an emotional service, especially since most of our family weren't there. Both Franz and I cried as we spoke about Alois and what his dedication meant to us. Alois didn't cry though. He happily looked straight at the pastor as he spoke to him and enjoyed the walk around the church with Rosalie to meet the congregation.

The KYB ladies wanted to make the morning a little special fo Alois so baked lots of lovely muffins and slices and things for morning tea. I spent most of Saturday baking 4 different cookies and slices. Unfortunately we didn't take any photo's of all the lovely sweets. Bummer!

After the service we came home, took some more photo's before James and Risto headed back to Brisbane. Another all night trip!

Uncle Risto giving Alois a few pointers on how to be cool!

Alois just loved having his two uncles here. On Saturday Franz took the two of them to the mine site. Alois woke up looking for everyone. The house was empty again. He slept about half an hour for his first nap. Not good, as he usually naps for at least an hour and a half. When I tried to put him to sleep for his next nap, he refused completely. Then Franz and the boys came home. I brought Alois out to see everyone. He was obviously tired but wanted to be held by all of them. Then Franz took him in and lay him down in his cot and he slept...just like that!! I couldn't believe it!

We had 3 camera's set up on timers for this shot!!

The PNG family that couldn't make it to the dedication came over to the house just before James and Risto left. Emma, has 6 children all under the age of 8!!!!

Update...Finally

Well, I have been inspired by Janna to update and maintain this blog. So I'll see how I go?! Alois is going to be 7 months old in 3 days! He has such a great personality and always manages to make me laugh! He already does a pretend cry for sympathy and knows exactly how to be "angry". I can't imagine how worse it will become as he gets older! He is such a good baby though...I almost feel guilty...as if I'm doing enough as a mum! He has 2 two hour naps and one 30-45 minute nap during the day. He then sleeps from about 7-730pm until 7 am the next morning. He's eating 3 meals a day...and loving each one. Here are some photo's...

Yesterday we went for a Sunday School Picnic. Alois really enjoyed being out with all the children...even though he was just watching.

Alois has just recently discovered his feet...so I took his pants off and let go crazy!

Our poor little boy is currently constipated, so I have to give him prune juice...he ends up biting the teat so not much get's in his belly.

I can tell Alois is going to be hanging out by the door waiting for Franz to get home when he's older. He loves playing with his dad!!

Bubu Man 31st May to 3rd June 07

Bubu Man came to see Alois and even though it was only for 3 nights, Alois seemed to miss him after he left! Bubu man bought Alois lots of nice things including his first pair of overalls. Isn't he cute?!!?

At the Wagga Wagga airport before bubu man boarded

Mother's Day

After church we decided it was time to try and take a family photo...it didn'y quite work!!

First Alois looked up

Then he looked left...
Then he looked right!

Finally he smiled, but only because daddy was behind the camera!
